Subject: New update on twins..
Thought
I'd send another update on what's happening.
I went both Monday and Today for more amnio reduction (they took 1 liter
out both times).
Both babies are still active. On
Monday, the larger baby (Ben) was still getting more blood flow than the smaller
baby (Josh). I spoke with the
specialist from
Wisconsin
who performs the laser surgery and received some
different information than we previously had.
Apparently, the odds are much greater with the surgery and most insurance
companies really Do pay for the surgery...In order to have the surgery however,
the babies have to be really bad off... The
specialist told me that bedrest and drinking 3 cans of Boost or Ensure a day may
help also - so that's what I'm doing...
I
stopped working as of yesterday and I'm home in bed or on my couch pretty much.
I don't really mind doing this if it will help the babies.
Plus, I'm pretty weak and still having a hard time breathing so it's all
I can really do at this point anyway.
When
we went to UCONN today the blood flow to little Josh seemed to be better (a very
good sign) so perhaps the bedrest and Boost is already working!
(along with the many prayers too...)
But the fluid is still building up so I had more taken out today and I go
again on Monday. So as far as we
know the babies don't qualify for the surgery and hopefully they never will -
but only time will tell. We'll
just keep doing the amnio reductions and pray a lot...
